(Washington D. C. April 30, 2009) (Exclusive to eGrumps)
The Administration issued a press release today stating that prior information given to the American people was wrong . The projections showing the proposed insolvency of Social Security, the proposed insolvency of Medicare, and the proposed insolvency of the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan were, and are, completely bogus. The prior results were based on outmoded technology and false assumptions. The actuaries computed that each of those plans are perfectly solvent and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Using reasonable assumptions, such as a Social Security Tax of between 30% and 35%, payable 1/2 by the employee and 1/2 by the employer, will take care of any previously projected shortfall. Similar minor increases related to Medicare and the prescription drug plan will also cover any shortfalls. We feel that the American people have been deliberately lied to by previous Administrations.
Since these deficits, which are really not deficits, will not exist, America can fully afford the Universal Health Care program ($775,000,000,000 +/- )proposed by the present Administration. If there is a small shortfall in that program, it was felt that they can always raise income taxes on the “rich.” A tax rate of 95% of net income will provide funding for all these entitlements and will acomplish the desired result. If necessary, Estate Tax rates can be raised. The administration was considering revamping its definition of “rich” but had not arrived at a satisfactory figure.
As Vice President Biden said, it is every one’s patriotic duty to pay taxes.
In addition to the social benefit of the programs, wealth will be equalized, which is what the present Administration believes to be in the best interest of the Country. Some of our citizens may be slightly poorer, but at least everyone will be healthy. What more could our country want?
Is America a great country, or what?
