Obama, Carter and Pelosi (on Obamacare) Are Full of Prunes

Washington, D. C. , September 18, 2009  (Commentary by eGrumps)

When eGrumps was young, sometime in the Middle Ages, his Mother used to say to him when he exaggerated, or(gasp!) even lied to her, that he was full of prunes. I don’t know the derivation of that phrase, I can only guess what it means, and it certainly isn’t used today – except by we old Geezers. – but it seems appropriate to apply it to the comments of President Obama, ex-President Carter and Speaker Pelosi .

President Obama has said that those opposed to ObamaCare  have “misinformation,” their concerns are “false” and are based upon “demagoguery,”    “distortion” or “tall tales.” He also called the claims of the dissenters “lies.” (That about covers all bases).

ex-President Carter said opposition to ObamaCare was based upon the fact it was proposed by a “black” man. (He failed to explain how America elected a “black” man – that seems rather inconsistent with his present statement unless he expects America to accept whatever President Obama proposes merely because he is black.)

Speaker Pelosi said the rhetoric of today (presumably from those who oppose ObamaCare) could lead to violence. Perhaps she should read the rhetoric of yesterday relating to President Bush.

Hey guys and gal, did it every occur to you that the objections to ObamaCare were based upon objective analysis, and they just don’t agree with your analysis of the plan (or plans). Insults do not add anything to the debate, and indeed Nancy are you suggesting that because there might be a few kooks out there, we should not criticize the plan and allow that to determine the future health care for Americans. Free speech does have a few problems associated with it, but please live with it, Madam Speaker, the problems are not as dire as you would have us believe.

Frankly – I think all three of you are full of prunes.
