Obama, Olympics and Afghanistan

Washington, D.C., September 29, 2009 (Satire Commentary by eGrumps)

With the Commanding General in Afghanistan, on 60 Minutes, saying he had only talked to the President once, President Obama requested that the General meet him in Copenhagen to discuss Afghanistan. While he was in Copenhagen to discuss Chicago’s bid to host the Olympics, he felt sure he could fit some time in to talk to the General.

The President’s staff requested that he not wear his uniform since it would put America in a bad light with the Olympic Committee.

The President did not want to convey the wrong message, and he felt having a General, in uniform, might not sit too well with the Committee. Chicago, after all, was a quite peaceful city, and the rate of shootings, intentional or otherwise, had only gone up slightly more than the rate of inflation.

The Presidential aide stressed that since President Obama’s time would be limited, and he didn’t want anything to interfere with his presentation to the Olympic Committee, that the General restrict the time for his presentation about the situation in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, he said, the President was being forced to prioritize his time.
