One can hardly listen to a TV interview or read a newspaper without some idiot comparing Arizona to Nazi Germany. Perhaps these people have forgotten history, or else have allowed their own political persuasion intrude upon the facts of history.
Compare:
Arizona: Wants to arrest illegal immigrants.
Germany: Arrested German citizens.
Arizona: Wants to try to stop the flood of illegal immigrants who take jobs from citizens, diminish the flow of illegal drugs and deter the crime wave that is occurring in Northern Mexico from spilling over to the United States.
Germany: Wanted to kill people they deemed undesirable.
Arizona: Wants illegal immigrants to stop breaking the law and return to their native country.
Germany: Sent the Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and other “undesirables” to concentration camps.
Arizona: Perhaps send them to jail for breaking the law, but more probably grant probation if they go to their home country. No physical punishment, yet alone execution.
Germany: Executed, murdered, slaughtered (call it what you will) those German citizens, without trial. THEY KILLED THEM.
Those of you who make the comparison, between Arizona and Germany, besmirch the memory of Six Million (6,000,000) plus individuals whose only crime was that they were members of groups who were deemed unfit to live. It is disgraceful to compare the law of Arizona (and the United States) with the laws of Nazi Germany.
May I respectfully suggest that the next time you hear or read such a comparison you set the record straight. That is what I, a true non-entity in the world, have tried to do here.
